It is nearly December and it's time to check-in and see how you're doing on three very important steps in your planning process.
1. ADMISSION APPLICATIONS
Have you applied to all the schools on your list yet? If not, now is the time. If there is a school you are considering, you need to submit an admission application and start a formal conversation with the school. See Mrs. Utt or Mrs. Wilfawn to get started.
Applying for admission is the only way to truly learn about the scholarships and grants you may qualify for. It's also the only way a college will consider your FAFSA application.
A college will NOT look at your financial aid eligibility if you have not applied and been accepted.
2. FAFSA PREPARATION
Have you set up your FSA ID yet? Remember you need one FSA ID for the student and one for at least one parent. This must be done BEFORE you file the FAFSA.
Second, you can now schedule a free FAFSA Completion Assistance appointment with Mrs. Utt, Mrs. Wilfawn through the school or ICAN at www.ICANsucceed.org/apt.
The FAFSA is set to be released sometime in late December so ICAN appointments will be available starting on January 3, 2024.
Remember to schedule BEFORE the earliest college priority date. To determine your earliest priority date, click here.
Click here for a list of the documents and information to bring to your appointment to complete the FAFSA form.
3. SCHOLARSHIP SEASON
A "Letter of Recommendation Request" has been shared through Google Classroom Class of 2024. This form is an excellent resource for you to help fill out scholarship applications. Fill one out and make copies...you have the original for you to use when filling out scholarships and you also have copies for those who you will ask to write you a letter of recommendation.
